As IB learners, Summerour students will positively impact OUR local and global community.
Our Mission
Summerour Middle School ignites academic excellence and character building by creating opportunities for each student to be successful in OUR school and in OUR world.
In December 2023, Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) began participating in the Georgia Department of Education’s statewide “Clean Water for Georgia Kids” program. This program tests all drinking and cooking water taps in schools for lead. Initial testing began in January 2024 and will be/was completed in July. Elementary schools were tested first before moving to middle and high schools.
To be clear, GCPS has no evidence of a widespread problem with the water quality in any school or building. This testing is a proactive measure to ensure the health and safety of our students, staff, parents, and community.
According to EPA guidelines, if any test shows lead is present at 15 parts per billion or higher, we will turn off the fixture’s water supply and immediately take action to fix the problem. The fixture will only be used again after a follow-up test confirms the water is safe to drink.
In accordance with our commitment to transparency, test results for each and every school will be available on the Clean Water for Georgia Kids Website.

I want to welcome you back to the 2024-2025 school year! We are going to have a fantastic year. Our goal at Summerour is to provide a world-class education where students learn who they are as people, and how they can make an impact on their world!
We believe in a home and school partnership to help our children be the best versions of themselves. We know you have high expectations and we partner with you in ensuring that our students become respectful, responsible, role models.
Whether your child is entering the 6th grade, 7th, grade or 8th grade, we want to make sure we are providing all the support that is needed in order for them to be comfortable, confident, and challenged in their day to day schoolwork. We believe in keeping track of student performance, and celebrating the success of our students. We also want your child to be involved in school clubs and activities and to also develop a service mindset by helping others.
This year will be my 21st year at Summerour and my 6th year as principal, and I honored to continue the great work of teaching and learning at this school. I BELIEVE that Summerour has the very best students in the county, the state, the world! They are talented, diverse, driven, and kind-hearted. This is more than a job for me, this is my passion!
We also have the most amazing educators teaching and serving at this school. Our desire is to provide a high-quality education so your child can not only be successful in academics, but also make a positive impact on THIS WORLD.
Please partner with us in any way you can. This could be by becoming a member and/or serving on PTA, visiting our Parent Center, volunteering, communicating through Parent Square, or reaching out when you need something. We are here to serve and support you and your child. Strong school and home partnerships are the key to successful schools.
Please don't hesitate to reach out, and THANK YOU for being a wonderful part of our community. We value you and thank you for entrusting us with your children.
